The Man on Dark Lane
When the sun falls on a cold, dark Halloween, a man appears through a wooden
creaky house. It sends a cold chill down your spine when you quickly glimpse him
staring at you through his big broken window.
It was 4:30pm on Halloween night in 1910.
I was getting ready to go trick or treating with my big brother and his friend. I was
wondering where the creepy man hides all year but then my annoying brother called
out to hurry up before it got too late. You never hear or see him any other day
except for Halloween at dark. I was putting my shoes on and then I heard a blood-
curdling scream from across the street. A dark, beastly shadow hurriedly crossed
the broken window just above the dead grass on the front lawn of the bygone house.
I jumped up and ran outside to take a closer look. I looked at the time rushingly and it
was 6:01. When I looked back, in a hurry, he was there giving me daunting stares. I
quickly rushed inside to take safety from the horrid events that were going on
through my innocent mind.
For some reason I was more scared than normal. I heard screaming and gunshot
noises in my head. I know that can’t be true but I still kept thinking that. I peeked
through my window and saw a black shadow of a body lying behind him. I studied his
mysterious body and saw a gory knife looking shape in his hand. Agitatedly I sprinted
outside. A tall black silhouette stood behind the window. Slowly walking over to the
front lawn of the old, torn up house. I gasped for some fresh air before my life
was taken before my eyes.
I overheard virtuous voices coming from the broken window below the main level of
the house.
“When can we escape? If we don’t escape we will never see the world again?’
whispered a soft voice
``We will, don’t worry, I will just have to plan how we’ll escape!” explained the older
sounding voice.
“Mum, I’m scared.” said the soft voice.
