Prangley sets up Vase win
Saturday 11th September 2021
FA Vase 1st Qualifying Round
Brislington 4 Fleet Town 0 ATT 75
Goals:- Prangley 27, 77, Brace 30 Edmondson 83
We welcomed Fleet Town from the Combined Counties League in the FA Vase.
We still had players missing Barwood was back at Centre Half with White going in to
Midfield with Brace & Proctor up front.
Reserve team players Robbie Tanner, Ryan Lynskey & Jason Hughes were all on the bench.
The away side started the game better as we tried to settle in to the game. By the 20th
min we were starting to get on top a White free kick was well saved and from the resulting
corner Whites header was well saved again.
3mins later the Fleet keeper made his 3rd save in as many minutes when he got his feet
to Proctor’s shot.
On 27mins our pressure finally paid off Scadds went one on one with the keeper who
proceeded to bring him down. Prangs stepped up to take the penalty and sent the keeper
the wrong way to make it 1-0.
3mins later it was 2-0 Scadds got to the line and put a great cross in to the back post which
found Josh Brace who despite challenges from the keeper & defender managed to put the
ball in to the roof of the net.
We continued to look comfortable the only threat from the away side was from the long
throws they were getting into our box.
n 45mins the game could have turned on its head. It appeared that Lewis Ewins was
wrestled to the ground on the touch line only to see the ref wave play on. The ball was put
in to an area just outside the box. As Barwood went for it he seemed to lose his footing
and go through the Fleet forward. After some altercations between the players & both
benches Barwood was shown a straight red card right on half time.
HT 2-0
We knew they would put us under pressure in the 2nd Half but knew we could hit them on
the break as the time went on without conceding a goal.
But we started quick and Scadds should have done better with a chance when he found
space in the box.
The away side were starting to pin us in but the defence were again superb in dealing with
most things.
On 77mins we made it 3-0. Josh Brace got away from the defence his shot could only be
parried by the keeper straight to Prangs who finished well for his 2nd of the game.
On 83 mins sub Robbie Tanner won the ball in the middle of the park and put in Edmondson
who pace was to much for the 2 Fleet defenders and got in to the box and slipped the ball
past the advancing keeper to make it 4-0 and secure our place in the next round.
This was another performance where every player dug in in the 2nd half to protect our 2-0
lead and be patient to find the right time to hit them on the break.
We now face Ashton & Backwell at home in the next round on Saturday 25th September.
Next up we travel to Wellington on Saturday. Always a tough place to get a result and we
have had some tight games in the past few seasons
