Established in 1973 after purchasing a parcel of land from the
MOD on the site of Westonzoyland Airfield. The club played in
the local leagues having various forms of success with Chris
Burt and Bill Coldwell and some failures that in 2005 saw the
club concede over 100 goals and be relegated. Local legends
Terry Hodge & Steve Margetts decided that in 2004 that there
needed to be change, that change started in 2006 and whilst in
the TDSFL Div 2 or the club would have folded. The focus was to change the club
from being a mid to late 20 year olds to mix in 17/18 year olds and try to give the
club some depth. This with some luck happened and there was an influx of fresh
faced 17 year old young players – they are now 35 years old and a few are still
playing.
In 2008 and the club had 1 x adult male team. We now have 3 Adult Male, 1 Vets
Team, 1 Ladies Team and 17 youth Teams.
Paul Bennett (Ex-Chairman) and Johnny Warren took the reigns of the 1 Team
st
after Sean Boobyer, Craig Berry & Martin Innalls guided the team into the TDSFL
Div 1. Johnny and Paul guided the team to TDSFL champions in 2012 and the
promotion to the Somerset County League. This meant digging up the old entrance
drive and buying part of a field from a neighbour. The best choice we made. Johhny
(RIP) Phil Hartley and Dave Warren then had a great 5 years guiding the 1 team
st
through the Somerset County League to the Premiership Division where the 1 st
team stayed for 6 seasons.
Promotion to the Western League was gained under the guidance of Craig Berry,
Brett Andrews and Phil Purvis.

The old changing facilities were an old WWII out building with a tin bath, no mains
electricity and water pressure that was a trickle. In 2020 after 10 years of putting
all the pieces in place we were very fortunate to gain grants from various sources
including the Football Foundation, FSIF, Viridor, Sport England and many smaller
grants that mean as a collective we have spent over £700K making a community
football club that should last for many years for many people to enjoy.
