Huddersfield Town retained the Sheffield & Hallamshire County FA Women’s Challenge
Cup, beating Doncaster Rovers Belles 1-0 at the Eco-Power Stadium.
Neither team had conceded a goal en route to the final and it required an excellent goal
line clearance by Town’s Autumn Housley to prevent Abby Coley giving Belles an early lead.
At the other end Belles keeper Ellie Sharpe made a few timely saves later in the half. The
game’s only goal came midway through the second half via Britt Sanderson’s powerful
       header at a corner.
She had also scored when Town beat Barnsley on the same ground in last season’s final
as well as scoring for Barnsley when they upset the odds in beating Town in the 2016 final.
It was Town’s fourth successful final appearance lifted the trophy, moving them along
side Sheffield FC with only Belles (7 wins) having won the competition more times.
