A 3-0 victory against Everton means that Manchester Utd are back as
the leaders of the Barclays WSL. Nikita Parris scored for the second
successive week to give United a first half lead, and they went on to seal the
points after the break with further strikes from Leah Galton and Hayley
Ladd.
United had been joint top along with Arsenal but the Gunners could
not quite repeat the scoreline against West Ham Utd, instead winning
3-1. Dagny Brynjarsdottir became the first player to score against the
Gunners this season btu Jordan Nobbs levelled before half time and second half goals by Stina
Blackstenius and Frida Maanum secured a thirteenth straight league victory for Arsenal, the
longest winning run since the WSL was formed.
Chelsea keep pace with the top two, thanks to a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa. Lauren
James’ goal midway through the first half was cancelled out on the half hour by Rachel Daly,
but the England striker restored Chelsea’s lead with her second after the break and Sam Kerr
wrapped up the win with the third goal.
The most astonishing result came at Brighton & Hove Albion where visitors
Tottenham Hotspur ran out 8-0 winners. Molly Bartrip and Nikola Karczewska put Spurs
ahead inside the opening twenty minutes and then doubles from Ashleigh Neville, Drew
Spence and Jessica Naz helped produce a remarkable win, even more so when considering that
Spurs had only scored three times ahead of the match. On the sadder side, the match brought
an end to Hope Powell’s tenure as Head Coach with the Seagulls.
Manchester City meanwhile moved into
the top four by beating Liverpool 2-1. Khadija Brighton & Hove Albion 0
Shaw kept up her good form by giving City a first Tottenham Hotspur 8 (Bartrip 2, Karczewska 19,
