Today we welcome Westbury Utd to the Auen Tips stadium.
Like us they have made the sideways move to the Hellenic League and a club we
know well from all our games in recent seasons.
All of us at Hallen wish all their players, officials and supporters a warm welcome
and hope they enjoy their visit to Moorhouse Lane.
My last notes were made back in August as unbelievably that was our last home
game. However, after going the whole of September away from home we now face
six home games in October. Absolutely ridiculous !
Also extremely difficult for volunteers and club officials but we will have to just
crack on.
Obviously the biggest thing that has happened since my last chairman’s report is
that we have parted company with Dean Horseman as 1st team manager. It was
very sad for all at the club as Dean is both a friend and someone that gave his all,
but sadly our results and performances were not acceptable with the backing that
the club was giving.
I was delighted however to be able to act quickly on behalf of the club and appoint
Stuart Jones as our new manager assisted by Andy Hawkins.
Stu’s football background speaks for itself and he is someone that we feel is a very
good fit for the club. I am delighted that we have him. We are all very confident he
can turn things around, however we know this is going to take a bit of time and
not going to be an overnight fix. What we will need though are players who really
want to give their all for the club no matter what our league position is.
The last month since Stu’s arrival has been a very testing one for him and Andy,
coming in and getting to work straight away. But with five away games since the
appointment we are seeing a massive improvement already both on and off the
field and midweek saw us beating a very good Brimscombe team 5-2 which has
given us all a boost. Let’s hope we can take the performance into today’s game.
Finally, I would just like to say that I hope everyone has an enjoyable visit to
Moorhouse Lane today. Unfortunately I am away so can’t be with you but I will be
back for Tuesdays game when we host Chipping Sodbury.
