beaten 2-0 by Southmead Community Sport. Downend Flyers Res enhanced their
chances of a top three finish when they won 4-2 at Stoke Lane Athletic and Kingswood
Women kept those hopes alive with a 2-0 success away to Winchcombe Town, given to
them by Connie Watt and Sian Towler.
Greater London League
Clapton Community have reached the semi finals of the John Greenacre Memorial Trophy
after they won 2-1 away to Edgware Town. Annabel Lyons and Marta Perez netted the goals
for Clapton, with Monique Mitchell-Marshall replying. Camden Town Blues meanwhile
edged out Sutton Utd U23 by the odd goal in seven to book their place in the last eight.
Hannah Gough was on target twice for Camden, with Lily-Rose Dyer and McKenzie Webster
adding the others.
It was a good day for the Premier Division teams in the Anniversary Trophy as all
recorded victories over lower division opponents. Emma Johnson scored twice and Valeria
Ayala the other as Regents Park Rangers won 3-0 away to Tooting Bec, whilst
Headstone Manor defeated Tower Hamlets 3-1 with goals from Rosie Watts (2) and Jade
Doherty. Brooke John (2) and Kerry Wainwright accounted for the goals as Enfield Town
3rds also won 3-1 against Luton Town Res. Comets were 2-0 winners over New London
Lionesses Development, Paulina Koutroubis and Rosalind Duignan-Pearson scoring their
goals, and Ornella Mbula bagged a four-goal haul for Islington Borough in their victory at
Sporting Duet. Carrie-Anne Layton and Abby Webster each netted a brace, with Nicole
Grainger and Charlee Vaz rounding off the scoring.
The only match played in Division One North was a top of the table clash and it was
Actonians Ladies Res who replaced Queen's Park Rangers Res as leaders after winning
3-2. Sinthujah Sooriyakumar, Lafe Uche and Sharon Odofin scored the goals to take Actonians
top, whilst Rangers' replies came from Jessica Francis-Weir and Amelia Halawi.
In Division One South, title chasing UCL Academicals received a blow to their
challenge as they were held to a goalless draw by South London Women. The result means
that Academicals trail Richmond & Kew by six points, although they still have a game in
hand.
Sheffield & Hallamshire League
Harworth Colliery will be crowned Division One champions if they win Sunday’s home game
against AFC Bentley who know that their own title hopes are still in their own hands. Bentley
have to win all four of their remaining games to finish top, but they go into the fixture against
their geographically closest opponents in fine form after a 4-0 win over Barnsley (Women)
Development, quickly followed by a midweek 4-1 victory at Sheffield Utd Community
Foundation. Gemma Harte (2), Jenna McGee and Hayley Wood netted in the first game with
Jodie Shakespeare replacing McGee as a scorer in the latter when all the goals came in the
second half, Wood netting in the opening seconds and Harte quickly doubling the lead to put
Bentley in a commanding position. Tia Needham pulled one back for United, but two very late
goals further boosted Bentley’s goal difference. Dronfield Town can also finish top, but only
if Harworth falter against Bentley. Kris Humble (2), Carly Gill and Laurie Marris scored for
Town in their 4-1 win at Handsworth who had opened the scoring through Kim Hardman.
The title race in the other two divisions is much more clear cut with both current leaders
enjoying a 100% record and it surely being a case of when, rather than if, they are crowned
champions. Handsworth Development made it 14 wins from 14 in Division Two with Holly
Jenkins (2), Katie Jepson (2), Chloe Tattersall and Liv Winstanley on the mark in a 6-1 victory
over Kiveton Park who are looking good for the runners-up spot they currently occupy.
Mikayla Harper, the division’s top scorer, netted their consolation against Handsworth and she
added another five in midweek as Kiveton recorded a 10-0 victory over Sheffield City. Sara
Tyler hit a hat-trick while Shelley Offless and Zoe Parker added the other goals as Kiveton
registered their second double figure score of the season. Socrates have games in hand, but
need to convert them into maximum points if they are to finish runners-up themselves. Vale
