Chesterfield have won the Derbyshire County Cup for the first time in their history after edging
       Derby County Development on penalties.
Derby couldn’t have wished for a better start to the game when they took an early lead after
just two minutes. In-form striker Isabel Sheridan found the back of the net with a powerful
effort for the Ewe Rams. Eight minutes in, Derby almost doubled their lead as Iesha Rollins
rushed through on goal; Chesterfield’s Nic Watson making an important save.
After their shaky start, Chesterfield found their feet and began to play some wonderful
football. The Blues found an equaliser after 23 minutes, captain and midfield maestro Millie
Standen finding the ball land at her feet in the box, before beating the keeper with a low effort.
Chesterfield had a good chance to take the lead after 53 minutes, when Pashley’s header
flew narrowly wide. Just minutes later, Derby almost went ahead through Holly Otter – a brave
block by Chesterfield’s Kelly Fidler keeping it level.
The Blues went close in injury time, as Sophie Marshall’s effort from outside the box rolled
just wide of the post. Soon after, the full time whistle blew at 1-1, meaning the game would be
       decided by a penalty shootout.
Derby scored first, through Holly Otter. Chesterfield missed their first spot kick, Pashley
seeing her shot saved. Isabel Sheridan stepped up next for Derby and scored. Abercombie
scored for Chesterfield. Next up for Derby was Humphrey, whose effort was saved. Standen
equalised the scoring for the Blues, as her shot just beat the keeper. Derby missed again with
their fourth penalty, Monk hitting the bar. Fidler scored for Chesterfield, giving them the lead.
Hunt stepped up for Derby’s fifth penalty and dragged her effort wide – meaning
Chesterfield Ladies win the shootout 3-2.
