With Chelsea and Manchester United confirmed as the Finalists for the
2023 Vitality Women’s FA Cup Final, over 65,000 tickets have been
issued for the showpiece event and The FA can now confirm the kick off
time. The Final, which will be held on Sunday 14th May at Wembley
Stadium connected by EE, will kick off at 2.30pm, live on BBC One.
The scene has been set following two tightly fought semi-finals this past weekend, with
Manchester United overcoming Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 to reach their first ever Women’s FA
Cup Final, while holders Chelsea were pushed equally hard by Aston Villa in a 1-0 away win.
Brighton led at half time through a Mary Earps own goal but hit back to lead with goals from
Leah Galton and Alessia Russo. Danielle Carter levelled matters once again but with minutes
remaining, Rachel Williams put United in front and this time they held out to reach the Final for the
first time.
Things were just as close in the other semi final with both teams having chances to score but
it was a Sam Kerr goal on the hour which gave Chelsea the edge on the hour.
With a record 65,000 tickets issued, neutral area tickets are now sold out, while tickets for
both Chelsea and Manchester United ends will go on sale this week through the respective clubs.
The Blues will occupy the West Stand, while Red Devils fans will be in the East
Stand. For accessible tickets please call 0800 093 0824.
Manchester Utd have opened up a lead of four points at the top of the
Barclays WSL after a 1-0 victory over Arsenal on Wednesday night. The only
goal of the game came in first half injury time, Alessia Russo scoring her
ninth league goal of the campaign, to complete a great few days for United,
coming off the back of them reaching the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Final for
the first time. The result was a blow for Arsenal’s title hopes and they also lost
another key player to injury with Leah Williamson limping off during the first
half.
Brighton & Hove Albion meanwhile put the disappointment of their
FA Cup semi final defeat behind them to beat Everton 3-2 and lift themselves off the bottom of
the table. Elisabeth Terland gave the Seagulls a twelfth minute lead which was doubled just
before half time by Katie Robinson. Katja Anoeijs gave Everton hope when she pulled a goal back
after the hour mark but the two-goal advantage was restored with ten minutes remaining as
Terland scored her second. Snoeijs completed a Brighton & Hove Albion 3 (Terland 12,80, Robinson
double of her own three minutes later but there was 43)
to be no further recovery from the Toffees, Brighton Everton 2 (Snoeijs 63,83)
holding on for three valuable points which take -
them above Reading FC Women and Leicester Manchester Utd 1 (Russo 45)
