23/9 /22 Lost 2-1 Away v Winscombe .
To be fair the result didn’t reflect the game , a game in which we matched our
opponents all over the park , we were organised worked hard and dominated
possession for long periods of the game. The hosts took the lead against the run
of play with a quick free kick down the line crossed to the near post and turned
in before we could switch on . The second goal came from a poor clearance and
we were outnumbered at the back for easy goal .
Second half was one way traffic the home side couldn’t get out their half , it
made for nervy last 20 minutes when Sam Price crossed and skipper Lewis Smart
headed home . It was well deserved and when Cam Main put his effort wide from
3 yards out we just felt the equalizer was coming and with virtually the last
action of the game Thomas Smarts cross looked bound to be turned in at the
back post by Sam Thomas but unfortunately he could get a decent enough
contact on the cross and the ball hit the outside of the post .
1/10/22 Won 1-3, Somerset Senior Cup away v Nailsea utd .
To out play our opponents for 90 minutes is no exaggeration, bearing in mind
the hosts are a division higher . I knew we click sooner or later and our
performances have got better week on week, game on game . Sam Thomas
opened up the scoring with a delicious curling shot from 25 yards, with the
outside of his right foot that went into the top corner . Cordell Young was
outstanding, topping off a man of the match performance by evading two
defenders before sliding the ball to Sam Hemmings who slotted a left foot shot
into the far corner early in the second half . Then later in the half the magician
Mason Hardidge glided past 3 defenders and unselfishly cut the ball back for
Young to smash the ball home to see us safely into the next round.
As you can see no game for the last 2 weeks but with 2 fixtures coming up at
home v Nailsea and Tickenham on the 22 and Castle Carey on the 29 we will
nd
th
be looking to take our recent good form into those fixtures and get ourselves
going up the table .
Enjoy your game, I will be there with you, UP THE STAGS
