Celtic blew the Park’s Motor Group SWPL 1 title race wide open when they defeated leaders
Glasgow City 3-1 on Thursday night.
In front of a domestic record crowd of 9,553 at Celtic Park, Lauren Davidson gave City a first
half lead but after the break, Natasha Flint, Claire O’Riordan and Katherine Loferski gave Celtic a
result which sees them close the gap on their opponents to two points.
Rangers are also two points off the pace after they won 3-0 against Partick Thistle. Lizzie
Arnot gave them the lead just before half time and Rangers went on to seal the points after the break
thanks to Kirsty Howat and a Tessel Middag penalty.
Hearts emerged as 2-1 winners from their local derby with Hibernian and will end the
season in fourth place. Erin Rennie and Aimee Anderson gave Hearts a two-goal lead at the break,
with Katie Lockwood pulling one back in the second half.
Spartans remain on course to finish on top of
the bottom section after they defeated Hamilton
Academical 4-2. Becky Galbraith and Simone
McMahon put Spartans two ahead before Lucy
Sinclair pulled one back, Hannah Jordan and Louise
Mason adding further goals before the Accies grabbed
a late consolation through Marie Gardiner.
Motherwell still have a chance of catching
Spartans, which they kept alive by beating Glasgow
Women 3-0. All of the goals came in the first half,
Carla Boyce opening the scoring after five minutes
and Louisa Boyes netting twice against her former
       club.
Aberdeen ended any lingering fears of facing
a play-off when they won 1-0 against Dundee Utd. Imogen Longcake of Partick Thistle holds off Rangers’
Bayley Hutchison scored the only goal of Rachel McLauchlan (SWPL/Colin Poultney).
