The Argyle Sports Kit Plate Final turned out to be a close affair and it also finished with
a team winning their second trophy this season. League champions FC United of
Manchester added the Plate to their title success but were taken all the way to penalties
by Darwen FC Women. Kirsty Chambers, Jess Battle and Emily Marsh all scored as FC
United came from two goals behind at one stage against a plucky Salmonesses side and it
was Chaneece Reeves who slotted home the winning penalty as FC United triumphed 5-4
from the spot.
In Division One North, Preston North End confirmed themselves as runners-up
behind title winners Blackpool as they beat Chorley Women Development 5-2 to
claim their twelfth win in thirteen matches. In the other game, Abbie Forster, Sarah Smith
and Heather Fawkes all got themselves on the scoresheet for Penrith AFC in their 3-3
draw against Bolton Wanderers.
South West League
Wootton Bassett Town continued their good finish to the season and they gave
themselves hope of finishing off the bottom of the Premier Division when they won 1-0 away
to Ilminster Town. The Wiltshire side have only been beaten and conceded a goal once in
their last four matches, to newly crowned Champions Torquay Utd, and they picked up
their second win in those games when Beth Chapman scored the only goal during the first
half. Liskeard Athletic meanwhile clinched a top half finish for themselves when they
defeated Warminster Town 2-0, Chloe Williams and Samantha Reid scoring their goals.
Bristol Rovers have reached the Final of the Premier Division Cup after running out
4-0 winners over Poole Town in their semi final. Megan Bloomer, Annys Turner, Abigail
Hughes and Abi Todd all scored to take Premier Division runners-up Rovers through to the
Final where they will play Bishop's Lydeard.
West Midlands League
Kidderminster Harriers boosted their chances to taking the runners-up spot in the
Premier Division when goals from Georgia Harris, Dani Selmes and Chloe Whyley gave
them a 3-0 victory away to Coundon Court. The win keeps Harriers one point ahead of
Shrewsbury Town who virtually ended the top two hopes of Worcester City by beating
them 2-1, thanks to goals from Grace Layton and Zoe Griffiths. Ameile Dennis (2), Lauren
Smith (2) and Tara Salt accounted for the goals as Solihull Sporting won 5-3 against
Crusaders, who replied through a Kirsty Spencer brace and Hayley Joynson.
AFC Telford Utd have moved up into second place in Division One North after
scoring ten times without reply past Darlaston Town. Jaime Duggan led the spree with a
four-goal haul, Lexie Bennett weighed in with a hat-trick and there was one apiece from Abi
Beady, Katie Ryan and Kaitlyn Richards. Olivia Mountford (2), Macy Isherwood, Tara
Harrison and Hollie Edwards were all on target for Port Vale as they won 5-2 at Lichfield
City Res, Karen Clough and Amy Rollason replying, whilst Tamworth were 2-0 victors
over Walsall Ladies courtesy of Catherine Harris and Elle Haywood.
Long Itchington still have a chance of finishing in the top three in Division One
South and they enhanced those chances by beating Bewdley Town 4-3. Kingfisher
meanwhile won 1-0 against Rugby Town, an own goal separating the sides on the day.
