Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon and welcome to the Lancer Scott
Stadium for the visit of Torpoint Athletic FC. I
would like to extend a particularly warm welcome
to today’s match officials, Jack Broham, Oliver
Loveridge and Steve Fearnley, to all the officials,
supporters and players from Torpoint who made
the trip up the M5. We hope you enjoy your time
with us and have a safe journey home.
Thanks to a pitch that usually drains well (I hope
its ok today!!), Mother Nature blowing a gale and
a new timber wedge goalmouth cover (more of
that another day!) we managed to get
Wednesday’s game on here v bottom of the table
Cadbury Heath. Heath reminded us of how we
played this time last year, when in a similar position, pressed, worked hard and
some talented players. Zac and Bish pulled back us back from 2-0 down, to get
us a point. A great last minute back heel from Shea very nearly gave us all 3
points.
Torpoint arrive here today, 5 places and 6 points below us, we have 2 games in
hand. They currently have the bragging rights following a convincing 3-1 victory
when we visited Mill Lane in a very cold mid-December. Athletics’ last 5 games
have been quite impressive, just a narrow defeat against high flying Buckland,
victories over Wellington and Ilfracombe, draws Vs Sherborne and 4-4 at
Shepton Mallet.
So we will have to improve on Wednesday’s performance to get something
today.
Anyone who wants to join us on Tuesday for our visit to Ilfracombe, we have a
coach leaving the ground at 4pm. Please see me or the managers to reserve a
place.
The next game here is a nice local derby for the Reserves on Wednesday 5th
april, 7.30 KO Vs Wrington. The 1st team return here on Easter Monday for the
visit of , currently, Top of the Table Saltash utd.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please as always respect
the officials.
UP THE STAGS,
Mike, Chairman
