Beech’s Bench Talk
Beech’s Bench Talk
Welcome to the Lancer Scott stadium.
This afternoon we welcome Torpoint Athletic, who
we visited on a very cold mid-December, in fact so
cold, the only discussion for an hour before the
kick off was whether the pitch was safe to play. I
wish we had listened to Torpoint and called the
game off!! They beat us convincingly 3-1! So I
know we have to be at our best if we are going to
get anything from the game.
Having watched Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with
Cadbury Heath on the VEO recording, I was very
disappointed with our performance. Take nothing
away from our visitors performance, in fact they
nd
reminded me of how WE played in the 2 half of
last season, worked extremely hard, pressed and played to their
strengths of 2 big lads up front. However we were not good enough,
particularly in the 1 45 minutes. In fairness to our guys, we recovered a
st
2 goal deficient with goals from defenders, Zac and Bish to gain a point.
Come the end we were the only side trying to win the game and the back
heel from Shea, which was goal bound but deflected for a corner, would
have been worthy of a winning goal on any football pitch.
With all these postponements the lads have been working hard in training
including last Saturday morning before watching the Reserves play
Westfield. We are really looking forward to today’s game and hoping we
can start a run to finish the season strongly.
With 7 games to squeeze in 25 days, we have signed Jamarni Langlais on
loan from Bristol Rovers for the rest of the season, he comes highly
recommended, to add pace, power and talent to bolster the squad ahead
of busy period approaching end of the season.
Enjoy the game
