FA Women’s Championship
Liverpool have edged a further point clear in the FA Women’s Championship,
taking their advantage into double figures with a 3-0 victory against
Sunderland. All of the Reds’ goals came in the second half, Katie Stengel giving
them the lead from the penalty spot four minutes after the
restart. With four minutes remaining, Yana Daniels scored a
decisive second and another penalty in injury time, this time
converted by Missy Bo Kearns, rounded off the scoring.
Second placed changed hands once again, with
London City Lionesses returning there on the back of a 5-1
win away to Crystal Palace. Three goals in a six minute spell
during the first half from Charlotte Fleming, Amy Rodgers
and Millie Rouse put the Lionesses in control and Rouse
netted her second after the break. Despite Millie Farrow
pulling one back for Palace right away, the Lionesses were not
finished and Rodgers scored their fifth and final goal on the
hour.
The result takes the Lionesses back above Charlton
Athletic who were held to a 1-1 draw by Coventry Utd. The Bristol City striker Abi Harrison gets in a shot
