The Barclays FA WSL and FA Women’s Championship both make their
return this coming Sunday following a break for the recent international
matches.
Since our last issue, Manchester Utd have taken over as the leaders
of the WSL and they will have an opportunity to open up a lead of four
points, temporarily at least, when they play away to Aston Villa on Sunday.
The following day, second placed Arsenal host Birmingham City whilst
Chelsea take on West Ham Utd and Everton play Manchester City.
Elsewhere, Rehanne Skinner takes charge of Tottenham Hotspur
for the first time as they play at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, searching
for their first league victory of the season as are Bristol City, who travel to
Reading FC Women.
The Championship is producing a close race at the top and is
currently led by Durham Women, they return to action with a home game
against Blackburn Rovers, who will be seeking to keep up their recent good
form. Second placed Sheffield
Utd do not have a game as they
are the odd team out, whilst
Leicester City will aim to step up
their challenge when they play
host to London Bees. Liverpool remain very much
in the running and they are also at home, against
Crystal Palace.
London City Lionesses were starting to find
their best form ahead of an enforced break before
the international matches and they play their first
league match for a month, taking on Coventry Utd
who are one point below them in the table. Lewes
meanwhile will be hoping to return to form after
Tottenham Hotspur’s Josie Green heads away from Bristol City two defeats, they play Charlton Athletic whose
striker Abi Harrison (Will Cheshire). immediate aim to move themselves off the bottom.
