Swansea City stepped up their title challenge and returned to the
top of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women’s League by running out
5-0 winners over Cascade Youth Club.
The Swans led at the break through an early goal from
Stacey John-Davis and Kelly Adams made it two just ahead of the
hour mark. Katy Hosford made it three before John-Davis rounded
off the scoring with two late strikes, to complete her hat-trick and
take her side three points ahead of Cardiff Met Women, who did
not have a game.
Cardiff City Women are in the driving seat to take a top three place following
their 3-0 victory against Port Talbot Town. All of the Bluebirds’ goals came in the first
half, Phoebie Poole continuing her recent good form by scoring in the opening minute and
then adding a second, before Danielle Green added the other goal two minutes before half
time.
Abergavenny Women returned to winning ways with a 2-0 success away to
Aberystwyth Town. Ffion David gave Abergavenny the lead after 25 minutes and Caitlin
Davies wrapped up the win with the second goal after the break.
Briton Ferry Llansawel made it two wins and two clean sheets on the trot
when they won 1-0 against Cyncoed Ladies. The only goal of the game came with seven
minutes on the clock, Lucy Powell scoring to move Briton Ferry to within one point of the
sixth placed Mighty Oaks.
Cardiff Met Women were due to play on Thursday night and seeking to make a
quick return to the top at home to Port Talbot Town, whilst Cyncoed Ladies were hosting
Cardiff City Women on the same night.
