WSS: It is early days of course, but what would it mean to the club if you were able to
regain Championship status in the future?
GB: In the last few years the staff and players have put in a lot of time and effort to build the
women’s side back up and push for promotion, so to be able to regain Championship status would
be a great reward and one I think the club deserves. The team has strengthened each year, since
being in the National League, so hopefully the wait won’t be too long!
Our thanks to Georgia!
Glasgow City are pleased to announce the signing of full back Cailin
Michie on a pre-contract agreement from Swedish side Piteå IF.
Michie is no stranger to the Scottish game, with the
Edinburgh-born defender spending a number of successful seasons
with SWPL rivals Hibernian, lifting four Premier League Cups and
three Scottish Cups in her time there.
The 22-year-old made the switch to full time football at the
turn of the year, signing for Piteå who play in the Swedish top flight,
but has been lured back to Scotland much to the delight of City Head
Coach Scott Booth.
Booth said of his new signing: “I have tried to sign Cailin to
be honest a number of times. I was not at all surprised when she got
her move to Sweden and I am just delighted we have managed to
persuade her to come back and join our vision for the future at the club.
“She is very versatile and can play both sides. She is young, hungry and a year playing every
week in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe will have developed her even more.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing Cailin and her development grow even further in
a Glasgow City shirt.”
Michie has joined City on a 2.5 year contract and becomes Scott Booth’s eighth addition to
the squad this campaign. She will join the Glasgow City squad at the start of December.
