P. 3
Good evening all ,
This evening we extend a warm welcome to our friends and close
neighbours from Cadbury Heath. Heath will be full of confidence after their
most impressive start to the season and , as always , will be a difficult nut
to crack. We also extend a warm welcome this evening to our match
officials, referee Mark Loughlin and his 2 assistants, Steve Fearnley and Jon
Ferguson.
I am writing these notes before our visit to Buckland on Saturday 12
September, which as I have alluded to before will be a tough test of
character for us. Our last game here, a week ago today, saw us pick up our
first point of the season from a keenly contested game with Cribbs, We
showed character in abundance on that occasion against a strong Cribbs
side; it was a great game to watch and in truth it could have gone either
way. I'm not one for singling out individual performances, and in fact each
and every one of the boys were a credit to the club on the night , but It
would remiss of me not to mention Ash Clark’s remarkable double save from
the penalty spot in the last quarter. You would struggle to see a better save
in any standard of football.
Thank you all again for your responsible behaviour and observance of the
Covid guidelines. It was very pleasing for me to hear that a visiting FA
official to our last home game was very complimentary regarding the steps
that we are taking to keep people as safe as possible. All of this would, of
course, not be possible without the efforts of the people who give up their
own time to make this club tick behind the scenes. My thanks to you all.
Enjoy the game.
