could play and watch the beautiful game. Thank you Jock from all
of those who played under your management and from Yate Town
for your contribution to the club’s development.
There will be a minutes applause before KO in memory of these
loyal supporters who will not be forgotten.
And so to this afternoon’s fixture. Since our last home defeat to
Farnborough we have been on the road and maintained our good
away form. A win at Hendon in difficult conditions was welcome
and although the pitch and the wind stifled the chances of any
classic football it did allow the Bluebells to demonstrate that
dogged determination to never give up and grind out a win,
characteristics that will be needed if we are to secure that last
play-off place. Despite dropped points the team is working hard
on the field and only three points from the play-offs with games in
hand. A top four finish is some distance away with those teams all
ten points clear of the rest, therefore it is now a group of seven
clubs fighting for the last play-off place, with the Bluebells one of
two teams with games in hand on the rest; the other is Truro City
still who we shared points with on Wednesday evening in a close
fought encounter.
In town today we welcome Swindon Supermarine for one of the
few local derbies in the Southern Premier. The Marine have had a
mixed run of results this season and recently had just the single
victory in their last six league outings. That said there have been
two drawn matches and the
rest have been decided by a
single goal and they have
scored eight goals in that run
clearly illustrating that results
do not tell the whole picture
- they have scored only five
goals less than the Bluebells
this season. The stats
identify the threat from the
strike force of Conor
McDonagh (15), Kieron
Phillips (10) and Harry
Williams (13) as ones to
watch and ll listed in the
possible squad.
