Group Seven saw Barnsley FC Ladies make it maximum points from their two games with
Sadie Hooper, Ruby Jex-Oldfield, Amy Lassu, Amy Lyons and Carla Whtehead on the mark in
a 5-2 win at Staveley Miners Welfare for whom Abbi Creed and Carly Rowlands were on
target.
One other player, Beth Gingell, also scored five goals, for SJR Worksop
Development in a 6-1 victory over Penistone Church. That made it two wins from two for
Worksop with Gingell, a prolific scorer for both Chesterfield and Sheffield Wednesday in her
earlier days, taking her tally in the Group Two games to eight. Worksop’s other goal came from
Ayesha O’Malley, while Kirsty Bradley netted for Penistone. The other game in the group saw
Socrates overturn a 2-0 interval deficit to claim the points with a 3-2 win away to Sheffield
Utd Community Foundation. Hannah Barden and Tia Needham netted for United, while
Valentina Basso, Demi Cassinelli and Helen Kean were on target for Socrates who had been 3-1
ahead at half time a week earlier only to end up beaten 5-3.
Comeback of the day belonged to Mosborough who found themselves three down at
the interval before a strong second half display saw them finish 4-3 winners over
Oughtibridge Res. Katie Flanagan bagged a hat-trick with Sadie Smith the other home scorer,
while Cheryl Mawhood (2) and Beth Fowler replied for Oughtibridge. Kiveton Park won the
group’s other game 3-0 with Sophie Ibberson (2) and Zoe Parker on target in a 3-0 success over
Bolsover Town.
AFC Bentley made it six points out of six in Group Six as they recorded a 6-1 success
over Mexborough Athletic. Gemma Harte (2), Hayley Wood (2), Nicolle Jepson and Rachael
Mullen were on target for the hosts with Lauren Camp the scorer for Mexborough. Dearne &
District were 9-0 winners at Millstone in the group’s other game thanks to a Chloe Hardy
hat-trick, Lauren Saunders (2), Ebony Billam (2), Georgia Hodgson and an opponent.
Katie Tattershall bagged a hat-trick with Mae Spencer (2) and Rebecca Hanley also
scoring as Handsworth Development made it two wins from two in Group Three. Georgia
Harris hit a hat-trick in reply for opponents Eckington Belles whose other scorer in a 6-4
defeat was Heather Whitehead. Lauren Emmerson and Mollie Wordsworth were the scorers for
Dronfield Town Development who lost 8-2 at home to Sheffield Wednesday
Development who have featured in the most contrasting pair of results so far, having lost 7-2
to Handsworth a week earlier.
Abbie Flynn (2), Danni Walker, Emily Walker and Julia Woods were on target for
Wakefield Trinity Development who won 5-2 at Wickersley Youth and so top Group
Five. Beth Harper and Lori-Anne Tart replied for Wickersley. Jess Baker scored a late equaliser
in the group’s other game as Sheffield Utd Community Foundation Res drew 3-3 against
Swallownest Swallows. Carly Herrick netted the other home goals whilst Tasha Lindley,
Charlotte Marshall and Tia Stancil were the markswomen for Swallownest.
Sheffield Wednesday Res top Group One after a 2-1 win at Rotherham Utd
Whitehill, both teams having won 7-1 in the opening fixture. Lauren Bullock and Brooke
Swann scored for Wednesday with Jess Broadhurst getting the home goal. Abbie Kirwin (2) and
Ellie Hall were on target for Handsworth in the group’s other game, winning 3-2 against
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic for whom Lucy Tindle and Beth Goldthorpe replied.
Somerset League
The top of the table clash in Division Two ended with honours even as Bishop's Lydeard
Development and Stockwood Wanderers shared a 1-1 draw. Stockwood remain two points
ahead at the top, despite Sarah Pearce scoring for Lydeard. Porlock meanwhile stormed to a
9-3 victory away to Pen Mill Res in the other game.
Wells City are closing in on the Division Three title, making it six wins out of six when
beating Crewkerne Rangers 5-1. Sophia Nurse netted twice for Wells along with Caitlin
Baker, Shannon Lockey and an own goal, Charlie Pettinger replying. Vanessa Brill scored the
only goal of the game as Burnham Utd beat second placed Weston Mendip Res 1-0, to go
level on points with them.
