Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

Good afternoon to you all, a warm welcome,
particularly to the supporters, players and officials
from today’s visitors Lebeq United. I’m writing this
in hope we are actually getting some football on,
as our last 2 games away at Corsham and Bishop
       Sutton were postponed.
As you are reading this you may well be thinking
some things are different?? Did you notice the new
pay box and music playing? We had to do
something at the turnstile as my old little shed
didn’t comply to new FA ground grading. Due to a
gateman being “mugged” for his admission money
a few years ago somewhere in the country we
now have to have a secure office. Mike, Chairman looking too serious
                                                             (Jo Shepherd)
Backwell residents Jeff Flicker and his father in law
Colin Pocock came to my rescue. As a hobby they build rabbit hutches and bird
aviaries and built their first shed. When I told them what we had to do to comply
by March 31st, Five days later a new mini shed was built and installed here FREE
of CHARGE. I am really grateful, particularly as Jeff’s company ASHTON GLASS
       already sponsors this programme.
Then manager Stu, got a mate in, Ashley to sort out the speakers, wires (not
straight forward in our clubhouse) we now have pre match music and able to
announce teams etc. Again we are indebted to Ash & Stu.
Back to the football, a good win here in our last game v Cheddar, with goals from
Pressy and Callum and another clean sheet kept us very much in the promotion
       hunt.
We welcome Lebeq to their first visit to the Lancer Scott in their first season in
the Toolstation league. We have meet already this season, on the first Saturday of
the New Year and we came away with 3-2 victory in a very entertaining game. We
       snatched victory in the 7th minute of injury time thanks to goals from James;
Spence and Conor Saunders. Lebeq are a skilful, quick side and I expect they will
       prove very tough opponents.
Following a number of postponements, please look at the fixtures to see all the
rearrangements, next game here is Tuesday 17th March, 7.30 vs a much improved
Bristol Telephones. Always a lively affair!
Please respect the officials, enjoy the game.
       UP the STAGS
       Mike,
       chairman.
