Cardiff City Women emerged as 2-0 winners from the top of the table clash with Swansea
City, a result which takes them three points ahead. Phoebie Poole scored both goals during the
first half, to hand the Bluebirds a third straight victory.
Defeat for Swansea means that Cardiff Met Women have moved above them into
second place following their 4-3 victory away to Pontypridd Utd. Erin Murray gave the
Archers the lead from the penalty spot, with Ellie Preece and Robyn Pinder adding further
goals ahead of half time. Shannon Greenway pulled one back for Pontypridd on the hour and
Olivia Francis further reduced the arrears shortly afterwards. Murray then netted a second
penalty for Met and although Kirstie Pervin-Davies gave Ponty hope in injury time, it was not
quite enough and Met were able to celebrate a second straight win.
Barry Town Utd also go on to six points, thanks to a 3-2 success at Abergavenny
Women. Barry took a first half lead through Mackenzie Olden and Hana Bennett added a
second midway through the second half. Aber came battling back and two goals from Alana
Murphy in the last ten minutes seemed to have earned her side a point but Olden scored her
second to seal a hard earned win for Barry.
The New Saints are off the mark for the season, thanks to a 3-0 victory over
Aberystwyth Town. TNS went in front during first half injury time thanks to Danielle Staley
and Chantelle Teare doubled their lead early in the second half. Staley rounded off a good day
for her club as she scored her second goal, nineteen minutes from time.
