Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

If you are reading this 31 minutes before kick-off,
Good MORNING, well that’s something I have
never said in this article before!
Welcome to everyone for this early kick off,
particularly to today’s match officials, supporters,
players and officials from today’s visitors
Sherborne Town FC. We hope you all enjoy your
time with us and have a safe journey home.
Sherborne sit 4 places and 6 points below us in
15th place. We last played each other here 16th
March 2019, In division 1, the Zebras returned to
Dorset with the 3 points winning 2-1. Jordan
Bishop scored our goal. We travelled Sherborne 5
weeks ago, Joe Banks put us 1-0 up after 12
seconds, it was close encounter where both sides
controlled periods of play but substitutes Will and Miles brought us back from
2-1 down to win 3-2. I don’t think there is a lot difference between teams at
the bottom and up to perhaps 7th place, so today should be another tight
        game.
That has been a feature in our last 2 games, unfortunately with us coming off
narrowly 2nd best, particularly down at Falmouth Town where we deserved the
3 points in front of 380 fanatical but welcoming fans who agreed we were the
better team. I highly recommend a visit to Falmouth FC, the clubhouse
atmosphere is excellent and we will miss that next season.
If you didn’t hear, last week we travelled to Mousehole last Saturday, assured
at 8am that the pitch would survive the weather. So the 1st player boarded the
coach at 8.15, However just an hour away @12.30 parked in the services, next
to the Sherborne coach!! we get a phone call to say the heavy rain meant the
game is postponed. Cheers then! Unfortunately they followed a local shipping
forecast with lighter rain while the Met office and BBC showed torrential rain.
        Met office 1 Ashton & Backwell 0.
It was even worse for Sherborne, they arrived at Falmouth Town before they
found out they game was off. They got to sample the F Troop hospitality.
We wait to hear if we can get compensation for the coach.
Reserves are on a good run, we had a fund raiser for Cordell under lights,
please read Nick Smart’s article for more detail.
Next 1st team home game is FRIDAY NIGHT, 9th Dec. 7.30 pm Vs Bridgewater
        Town.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect the
        officials.
        UP THE STAGS,
        Mike, Chairman
