Good opening win too for Hayes & Yeading United as they beat Swindon
Supermarine 3-0 at the SKYex Community Stadium. Francis Amartey’s 25th
minute effort separated the sides at half-time and then Hassan Jalloh added a
second for the hosts with 20 minutes to go, and Jamie Hanlon made sure with a
third four minutes from time.
Plymouth Parkway are tipped to continue their rise through the non-League
Pyramid as they began life in the Pitching In Southern Football League Division
One South on Saturday.
In contrast, few are looking at the division’s other new boys, Lymington Town.
But on opening day, Parkway were beaten 1-0 at the Snows Stadium AFC Totton,
whose Jack Hoey converted a 37th minute penalty, while Lymington won 3-1 at
Barnstaple Town. The Hampshire outfit trailed to a 54th minute Theo Ofori
goal, but turned it round, thanks to Craig Stanley after 76 minutes and a Dominic
Thelen brace after 84 and 90 minutes.
A terrific crowd of 867 were at Badgers Hill and saw Frome Town clinch all three
points against visiting Highworth Town, thanks to a goal 10 minutes after half-
time from Jon Davies.
New signing Sam Crumb had a good league debut for Larkhall Athletic as his
brace in the 12th and 78th minutes helped see off Slimbridge at Plain Ham.
Marley Thomas had given the Swans an early 2nd minute lead and Matt Britton
sandwiched Crumb`s pair.
Louis Jagger-Cane was another two-goal debutant for Willand Rovers at home
to Meksham Town. The former Tiverton Town forward scored in the 10th and
37th minute, with Jay Malshanskyj replying right on the stroke of half-time. But it
wasn’t until Jack Rice-Lethaby grabbed a third for Rovers in stoppage time that
they felt safe.
Connor Whiteley also bagged a brace as Sholing claimed all three points in a 2-0
win at Cossham Street against Mangotsfield United. Whiteley scored in the
21st and then 58th minutes.
Bristol Manor Farm led 1-0 at the Corinium Stadium against Cirencester
Town through new signing Owen Howe`s 53rd minute effort. But Ross Gabriel
equalised in the 68th minute and Josh Grace-Parsons then gave the Centurians
the lead four minutes later with Aidan Bennett making it 3-1 in the 81st minute.
Howe’s second five minutes later led to a nervy finale, however.
At the Causeway, Cinderford Town equalised through Sammie Hicks after 26th
minutes after Paulton Rovers had taken a first minute lead, courtesy of a
Leighton Thomas penalty. But the hosts suffered a massive blow when they had
goalkeeper Nick Jones sent-off after 29 minutes and with no sub keeper on the
bench, Hicks had to don the gloves. He was beaten twice before half-time with
Thomas getting his second and George Fowler adding the other. Jacob Sloggett
then made it 4-1 to Rovers after 72 minutes, with Ben Brooks netting a second
for the ten-men a minute from time.
At the Simplyhealth City Ground, Winchester City took a 20th minute lead
through Simba Mlambo. Visitors Biedford pulled level nine minutes later with
Craig Duff the scorer and then went in front through James Mayne with 12
minutes remaining.
It looked like being the winner until Jamie Barron grabbed a 96th minute equaliser
for the Citizens.
