A warm welcome to all of our supporters this evening and especially
to the players, management, directors and supporters from
Wimborne Town who have made the lengthy mid-week trip from
Dorset to visit the South West Interiors Stadium. We hope you enjoy
your visit, and trust everyone has a safe trip home this evening.
Well we thought it would never happen but at last we return to live
Southern League football at Lodge Road for the first time since we
hosted Poole Town on Saturday 24 October 2020, a tough game
                                             th
when a brace from Ryan Beckinsale wasn’t enough to beat the
       rampant Dolphins.
We start this evening’s match after travelling to the capital for our
opening fixture, the third time in as many seasons, but this time on
the back of a strong performance and deserved three points. The
manager will cover the match in his view from the dugout.
Looking ahead to the new season there is plenty of action to come.
Following Kings Langley’s move from the Premier Central to the
Premier South the division is back to its full complement so 42 league
matches to get through. On top of this the Gloucestershire Senior
Challenge Cup, Southern League Cup, FA Trophy and the FA Cup
competitions will all be running once again. For the cup competitions
we await the outcome of the respective draws but will let you know
who and where we will be playing.
If you have been following our social media you will have seen that
Paul Michael and his management team have been working hard over
the closed season to strengthen the squad. With new players and a
firm date for the season to start a rigorous pre-season schedule has
been completed with Yate Town playing host to Forest Green Rovers,
Slimbridge and most recently BCFC U23; the latter provided the
opportunity for some of the young guns who helped us achieve
promotion in 2019 to once again show their talent at Lodge Road.
The majority of games have been played away with visits to Risca
United, Roman Glass, Frome Town, Barry Town and finishing at
Redditch United. You can read more about the new players and the
Gaffer’s review of pre-season in ‘Thoughts from the Dugout’.

And so to our opponents this evening. We last played each other on
2nd November 2019 with Wimborne Town taking the spoils after a
