Hibernian are the only team so far to have won their first two games in SWPL 1, after their
4-0 triumph away to Motherwell. Rachael Boyle put Hibs ahead midway through the first
half and Kirsty Morrison made it two ahead of half time, before Carla Boyce and Amy Muir
added further goals after the break.
The next two positions are occupied by Glasgow City and Celtic after their meeting
ended in a 2-2 draw. City raced into a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to Clare Shine and
Lauren Davidson but after the break, two strikes in a ten minute spell from Olivia Chance
earned Celtic a share of the spoils.
Rangers started their season a week late but looked determined to make up for lost
time, scoring seven times without reply past Hamilton Academical. Jane Ross gave them a
ninth minute lead with the first goal of a first half hat-trick, with Lizzie Arnot also getting on
the scoresheet. Ross netted a fourth early in the second half, with further goals from Demi
Vance and Zoe Ness completing the victory.
Aberdeen meanwhile recorded their first win back in the top flight when beating
Partick Thistle 2-0. After a goalless first half, Eva Thomson opened the scoring eight
minutes after the restart and Mya Christie made the points safe with the second goal in injury
time.
Spartans also got off the mark as they defeated Hearts 3-1 in their derby match.
Hearts took the lead through Mariel Kaney two minutes into the second half, with Rebecca
Galbraith equalising six minutes later. Spartans then went in front for the first time thanks to
Katherine Smart and Alana Marshall wrapped up the win with nine minutes remaining.
In contrast to the top flight, SWPL 2 sees three teams locked at the top with six points
from their opening two matches. These are topped by Dundee Utd who were 3-1 winners
away to Kilmarnock. United got off to a flying start with three goals inside the opening twelve
minutes, Cassie Cowper opening the scoring before further goals were added through Robyn
Smith and Danni McGinley. Shelley Campbell netted a consolation goal for Killie, late in the
second half.
