WELCOME from the Manager
Good evening all and a welcome to the players/ management
and supporters of WSM.
Its good to be back at Lodge Road after a succession of away
fixtures.
Since coming back to the club, It was evident to see the lads
were very down-trodden and confidence was low following a
few losses and regularly conceding goals so we have stepped
it back a little and worked hard at the basics over the past three
weeks. Toves and myself are pleased to be back at our home
club and work has very much started behind the scenes
enabling us to have every possible chance of getting a group
of lads together that have the heart and desire to win football
matches, which will inevitably see us start climbing the table.
I felt the level of performance was good against Swindon Supermarine and we were dealt a
harsh blow having Darren Mullings sent off for an innocuous challenge in the middle of the
pitch right on half time. The lads held on, stuck to task but unfortunately ran out of steam
when they scored two goals late on. They are a team pushing for promotion in this league
and this has given me the confidence to know this group of lads aren’t too far away from
being a very competitive one.
We approach the WSM game off the back of a very respectable win against a strong
Bracknell team and a credible draw against Salisbury. The thing that pleases me most is the
lads posting two clean sheets in succession and the lads continue to build their confidence
in each other and as a collective.
We have another 7-10 days where we look to get some longer term injured lads back into
the squad, the likes of Ioan Richards, Khari Allen and Alex Lambert will all add strength to
the squad.
The WSM game comes at a good time for us and in particularly Toves and me as it will enable
us to assess the current group of players even further, as we give them the platform to
perform against the very best team In this division.
I hope we are able to get many of the Yate town fans through the gates to watch us under
the lights as we all strive to pitting our wits against a team that are doing well this season
with decent experienced players throughout their armoury. We have had a good week or so,
and I firmly believe we can give a good account of ourselves if we perform to levels, we have
shown over recent games.
By adding Kyle Tooze Dillan Lewis and Darren Mullings to our squad has given us a better
balance from back to front and this along with hard work dedication to the cause (and now
a bit of confidence) we can start to look forward to evolving together ensuring we get better
results for this football club.
Enjoy the game.
