Hayes & Yeading United maintained their 100 per cent record in the Pitching In Southern
League Premier Division South on Saturday in comprehensive fashion.
Paul Hughes’ side hammered Hartley Wintney 6-1 at the SKYex Community Stadium, and
that after being a goal down at half-time to a 44th minute Jordan Edwards effort.
Omar Rowe equalised two minutes after the restart and then Hayes & Yeading scored two
in three minutes shortly afterwards through Afolabi Soyemi-Ololade and on loan Tyler
Goodrham. It wasn’t until the 83rd minute that the hosts scored a fourth when Francis
Amartey was pulled down in the box, resulting in a red card for Hartley defender Pascal
Kpohomouh in the process. His penalty was saved but Hassan Jalloh put in the rebound. Two
minutes later, Rowe made it a nap hand with his second of the game and Jalloh added a
sixth in stoppage time.
Metropolitan Police are the only other team yet to be beaten in the league and they
shared the points for a third time in six games, this one being at Imber Court against Poole
Town. Tony Lee’s penalty eight minutes into the second half broke the deadlock to put Poole
in front. Rudy Allen equalised after 66 minutes, and the points were eventually shared in a
game that threatened to boil over at times with a plethora of bookings.
Gosport Borough are second in the early table after a 2-1 Privett Park win over Yate
Town. In front of 557, Olly Mehew gave the Bluebells an early 7th-minute lead that Matty
Briggs levelled in the 21st minute. Then, with 11 minutes remaining, Nicky Dembele popped
up with Boro’s winner.
Farnborough are third as they won for a fourth time in six games, 3-2 at home against
Taunton Town. Reggie Young put Boro in front after eight minutes and Louie Paget added
a second just before the break. Dan Sullivan pulled the Peacocks back into the game after
57 minutes only for Paul Hodges to make it 3-1 to the hosts on 76 minutes.
Gethyn Hill netted a second for the visitors, but Boro held on for the spoils.
Beaconsfield Town made the long trip to Plymouth well worthwhile as they beat Truro
City 1-0 at Bolitho Park. The Rams took a 25th-minute lead through Toby Little and then
held on, despite having goalkeeper Alex Tokarczyk dismissed 12 minutes from time for a
second yellow card offence.
Kings Langley remain the only team in the division yet to win this season after going down
to a fifth defeat in six games at home to Salisbury. It was Kings who went ahead through
Eduard Toiny-Pendred after 17 minutes. Ollie Knowles equalised three minutes after half-
time and then as stoppage time kicked in, Charlie Davis won it for Steve Claridge`s side.
Dorchester Town recorded a second win in the league, 2-0 at the Avenue Stadium against
Walton Casuals. And it was a great debut for new loan signing from Bristol Rovers, Kieran
Phillips, who scored both of the Magpies` goals in the very first and 35th minutes.
Harrow Borough also made it two wins – and a late one at that as a goal in the first minute
of time added on at the end from Joseph Otudeko sealed victory over Weston-super-Mare
at Earlsmead.
Chesham United were another team to earn a second victory of 2021/22 as they claimed
a 2-1 win at Wimborne Town. It was the Magpies who took the lead through Ben Scorey
after 20 minutes. And things seemed to go from bad to worse for Chesham when they had
Lewis Rolfe sent-off just four minutes into the second half. But the ten-men battled back to
level with a goal from Jaden Thompson-Brissett and then grabbed a win, thanks to Kyle
Davison-Gordon 10 minutes from time.
Merthyr Town followed their Emirates FA Cup exit at the hands of Sydenhams Football
League (Wessex) Premier side Hamworthy United with another disappointing 2-0 reverse
at home to Hendon. Hamza Semakula gave the Greens an early 6th-minute lead and Liam
Brooks added a second from the penalty spot just before the break to give Lee Allinson’s side
a 2-0 lead they clung on to.
Tiverton Town and Swindon Supermarine shared the points at the Ian Moorcroft
Stadium. Both goals in an entertaining game came within a minute of each other 10 minutes
into the second half, with Tivvy`s Olaf Koszela opening up and Harry Williams levelling.
