THOUGHTS FROM THE DUGOUT
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to The South West Interiors Stadium for our FA Cup
3rd Qualifying round match with Redhill FC. May I extend a warm welcome to Harrison
Williams, the Redhill staff, players, officials and supporters, I hope you have a safe journey
to and from Lodge Road this afternoon.
The FA Cup is a fantastic cup competition and we all know the best story to come out of
today would be for the step 5 team who have already dumped two step 4 teams out of the
competition to take another step towards the first round by beating a side two sections
above them. From the moment (well after a few hours of disbelief and disappointment) the
Taunton game was called off our focus has been on doing all we can to ensure that doesn’t
happen this weekend as we look to end the fairytale cup run for Redhill and pursue our own
dreams.
Every team that reaches any round of the FA Cup is there
on merit. Whether that be entering a certain round
because you’ve earned your position as a club in the
pyramid or whether you have won games to get there,
and there lies the beauty, anything can happen on a
single day in a one off game off football, league
standings go out the window and all that matters is what
happens once you cross the whitewash, 11 players vs
another 11 players in a single 90 minute match.
In all competitions we are 5 wins, 2 draws and
3 defeats winning the last 2 outings scoring
6 & keeping two clean sheets. That has to
give us confidence that some of the
things we have done in the last two
games work & we must do our best to
replicate it week in week out.
So today we will need you to get behind
the team today once more when we
walk out onto the field, we have a
chance here to do something special
together this season so when we go
close and get forward help us maintain
and build momentum, encourage the
boys when they do something well and
together let’s see if we can get into Monday’s
draw!
Up the bluebells!
Cheers,
Paul
