FA Women’s Championship

       Liverpool are on the verge of winning the title and returning to the FA WSL
       after results went their way over the weekend.
            On Saturday, second placed Bristol City travelled to Sheffield Utd
       in search of a victory to narrow the gap on the Reds but saw their five-match
       winning run brought to an end by the home side. Ellie Wilson scored the only goal of the game
       after 32 minutes and held on for a 1-0 win which puts them firmly in the running for a top three
       place.
            This  gave  Liverpool  the  chance  to  go  eleven  points  clear  as  they  hosted  Durham
       Women and they took the opportunity with a 3-0 victory. Rachel Furness gave the Reds a
       ninth minute lead which was doubled on the stroke of half time by Katie Stengel. Furness netted
       a second midway through the second half to
       put the seal on the win for Matt Beard’s side.
            This  Sunday  sees  Bristol  City  play
       host  to  Liverpool  at  Ashton  Gate  and
       Liverpool  need  to  avoid  defeat  to  be
       confirmed as Champions.
            Crystal Palace bounded back up the
       table and are back in fourth following their
       1-0  success  away  to  Charlton  Athletic.
       Coral  Haines  scored  the  only  goal  of  the
       game, midway through the first half, to move
       Dean Davenport’s side level on points with
       third placed Durham.
            Sunderland  are  finishing  the
       season well and notched up a third victory in  Aggie Beever-Jones goes close for Bristol City against
       four  matches  when  beating  Watford  2-1.
       Both  of  Sunderland’s  goals  came  in  a  three  Sheffield Utd  (Will Cheshire).

       Morris, midway through the second half, brought -
       Coventry  three  precious  points  and  extended Coventry Utd 1 (Morris 66)
       their unbeaten run in the league to four matches, Blackburn Rovers 0
       with Coventry and Watford still due to meet on  - Charlton Athletic 0
       the last day of the season.
