FA Women’s Championship
Liverpool are on the verge of winning the title and returning to the FA WSL
after results went their way over the weekend.
On Saturday, second placed Bristol City travelled to Sheffield Utd
in search of a victory to narrow the gap on the Reds but saw their five-match
winning run brought to an end by the home side. Ellie Wilson scored the only goal of the game
after 32 minutes and held on for a 1-0 win which puts them firmly in the running for a top three
place.
This gave Liverpool the chance to go eleven points clear as they hosted Durham
Women and they took the opportunity with a 3-0 victory. Rachel Furness gave the Reds a
ninth minute lead which was doubled on the stroke of half time by Katie Stengel. Furness netted
a second midway through the second half to
put the seal on the win for Matt Beard’s side.
