Manager’s Viewpoint

       It’s been a refreshing pre-season.

And after completing my 23rd pre-season with the club, this has
definitely been one of the most enjoyable ones for the following
       reasons.

After a couple of seasons of trying to get Ryan Perrett on board we
finally got our man. He has joined us in a joint manager role
alongside myself. He has had a great impact on the side already and
has been a much needed breath of fresh air.

It was really important for me to keep Jon Mead, Ian “Milly” Milton,
Kev Caton on board as well. I feel we have a very competent
coaching team on board for the season.

We have signed some very good new players on and all of them have
settled in very well. Some real good characters. And at the same time
we have retained all the lads from the previous season.

Although we never had a particularly great season last season
(finishing 5th), we still showed glimpses here and there of what we
were capable of. So I believe a good foundation was in place. But
there was obvious improvements needed. And we feel we have done
as much as we possibly could to implement these improvements.

The project at the club is getting bigger and bigger. The aim is to get
the ground step 6 compatible. And hope we can align the ground
progress along side the team progress. That is the challenge.

We’ve had a cracking start to the season. 3 wins from 3.

A good opening win at home to Keynsham Res, a real tough battle
against a very good Timsbury. Followed by another tough one on the
       road away at Somerton.

       Long may it continue.

       Dickie.
