LEAGUE REVIEW

English Bicknor’s second home game against the league leaders Shirehampton facing them in the Cup earlier
on in the season. Unfortunately, the result was the same with the visitors going home with a win. Shire were
awarded a penalty early on but Craig Edwards in the home goal brought of a great save to deny Scott Bamford’s
shot from the spot. Then just a few minutes later Bamford made up for that miss with a goal to put Shire 1-0
up. The home side created several chances but failed to take any of them and continuously gave the ball away
when in possession. Shirehampton sealed the three points on 80 minutes with a Matt McCall goal and a 2-0
     win.
Broadwell Amateurs home form continued today with a 2-1 win over Gala Wilton. A good start from both sides
but the home side had a great chance on 20 minutes but Kristian Burnard shot wide. Gala’s Callum Thomas
could well have given Gala the lead on 25 minutes but his header went just past the post. A break from Jordan
Locke down the right and a through ball for Liam Thomas to latch onto saw the ball squared across the goal for
Tom Scotford to give the home side the lead. 5 minutes later it was 2-0 and what a great goal from youngster
Kian Skidmore a 35-yard volley that flew into the top of the net. Gala had the ball in the net a minute later but
it was ruled out for offside. Gala gave themselves a lifeline on 75 minutes it started as a free kick that was
pushed away for a corner by keeper Watkins and when the corner came in Marcus Foxwell hit it so hard that
                                                   nd
Watkins could only push the ball into the roof of the net. In the 82 minute Broadwell had a chance to score a
third when Dan Brain was brought down in the box for a penalty. Jordan Locke hit the spot kick well but keeper
Lewis Skyers brought of a fantastic save.
Bromley Heath United slipped up again by the odd goal losing 2-1 at home to Patchway Town. They fell behind
after just 5 minutes with a goal from Mateo Pali. Although the home side were always in the game they cannot
seem to find the finishing touches they need to get the ball in the net. Bromley found themselves trailing 2-0
five minutes into the second half when Phil Vice netted from the penalty spot. They did pull a goal back in the
80 minute with a long range shot from Alvin Nurse but just could not find another to salvage a point.
