The Scottish Building Society Scottish Women's Premier League made its long awaited
return to action on Sunday with a full round of SWPL 1 matches and it was a good start
for the top two as both recorded victories away from home.
Rangers hold on to the leadership on goal difference after running out 6-0
winners over Hearts. Samantha Kerr and Kirsty Howat put Rangers two ahead inside
the opening twelve minutes, before Lizzie Arnot netted a brace and Zoe Ness added a
further goal ahead of half time. Kerr scored her second goal after the break to complete
       a convincing restart for Rangers.
The teams which occupy the next two positions in the table met each other and
it was Glasgow City who won 3-0 against Celtic, to stay level on points with Rangers.
Aoife Colvill gave City the lead just before the half hour and the game remained in the
balance until a five minute spell after the break, when Arna Sif Asgrimsdottir and Niamh
Farrelly added further goals to seal the points for the reigning Champions, who had
been beaten by Rangers in their last match before the enforced break.
Spartans were having a good season before play was halted and they have
picked up well once again, beating Hibernian 2-0 in their Edinburgh local derby. The
first half was goalless but goals in quick succession after the interval from Katherine
Smart and Rebecca Galbraith earned Spartans a win which takes them into the top half
       of the table.
Forfar Farmington meanwhile notched up a 3-2 win away to Motherwell
which takes them further away from the bottom two places and gave new manager Kevin
McGreskin a winning start in his first match in charge. Lisa Ryan opened the scoring for
Forfar, three minutes after half time, with Motherwell equalising four minutes later
       through Abby Callaghan. Cassie
