Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum
Good afternoon, I would like to offer a warm welcome
to you all, particularly to the officials, players and
supporters of Camberley Town FC, I hope you enjoy
your day with us and have a safe trip along the M4 to
Surrey.
Today’s fixture is the 2nd qualifying round of the Isuzu
FA Vase. Camberley play in the Combined Counties
Premier Division south, a step 5 league, the same level
as ours. By coincidence they are in the same division as
Knaphill FC who we beat 2-1 in the 1st qualifying round,
here 4 weeks ago. 2 days later Knaphill beat Camberley
1-0 in a Bank holiday local derby. Town are currently
2nd from bottom having won 1 game from 5 league
fixtures.
Having played 10 fixtures in 5 weeks, this just our 2nd
game in September. Last Saturday’s scheduled game V
Street obviously never took place. Street refused to turn
up claiming that they didn’t have 14 days’ notice to
change the original date of Tuesday 13th to the
Saturday. Despite the fact all clubs were advised on
JULY 22nd that the vacant Saturday’s in August and September would be allocated a
league game once the Cup draws were known. Street chose to give their players the
weekend off. We wasted a lot of time and effort as we still had to be ready to play the
fixture. To say we are disappointed and frustrated is an understatement, yet we will still
have to play the fixture, no doubt when Street have a stronger squad available.
At home games you may have noticed a tall black pole with a circular green “cap”
standing about 10 feet in the air by the kitchen. Thanks to generous sponsorship from
Masters Roofing and Masters Pipeline Services we could purchase a VEO camera. The
green cap is in fact a ball tracking camera that allow us to record games. The
management then analyse games, to then coach and develop our players and
performances. The highlights are put onto the club website by Jim Williams, along with
match photos from Backwell Camera club and reports. This can all be found at
pitchero.com/clubs/ashtonbackwellunited.
A good win at Welton Rovers on Tuesday kept us in 5th place, thanks to goals from Joe
and a great free kick from Jamie. We were a bit rusty in the opening 45 but dominated
the 2nd half.
Thank you to Grosvenor Consultancy (finance) ltd, Lancer
Scott ltd, Phil Rex, JCW Flooring, SMG Screeding, Kingscourt
Cladding and Nupower Electrical for being the first to kick off
the Player sponsorship. If any is interested in sponsoring a
player @£75, please speak to me or the 1st team
management.
We are looking for a few more volunteers around the club, if
you know anyone who can help please send them my way.
Sorry I wont be with you today and Julie is absent from the
kitchen, she has whisked me off to a greek island for a week.
I will be back in time for
our 1st coach trip of the season of the season, Saturday oct.

Cornwall, All supporters are welcome,£10 each see more
