Frampton Rangers provided the surprise result of the last round when they beat FAWNL side
AFC St Austell 1-0 and the South West League Northern Division side will get another chance to
play a Division One South West team this week when they travel to play Swindon Town.
“Frampton is a really special club that I’m really proud to play for,” midfielder Ellie Michael
told Women’s Soccer Scene. “Tony [Michael] has been our manager since we first formed as a
youth team in 2011 and we still have four players playing who joined that very U12’s side, and
myself, currently in my 11th season here!
“It’s a wonderful and talented group of ladies with an even more wonderful team spirit, and
I’m confident this will bring the best out of us on Sunday!
“Also, I must mention how fantastic it is for a small club to receive decent prize money. The
Women’s Prize money is significantly higher than previous years, and it’s huge for a small club
like us that relies on player fees and local sponsorship to keep us afloat. It allows us to get better
kit and facilities which is necessary to compete with the bigger teams who receive more funding.”
Frampton captain Gabby Menghini added: “Everybody at Frampton is buzzing, this is what
the FA Cup is all about and hopefully we can cause an upset.
“We know a massive challenge awaits us on Sunday, to deal with the quality of a team like
Swindon, but the FA Cup is the magic cup after all so who knows, we’ll definitely be trying our
best to get in the hat for the next round.”
“I’m really looking forward to the game to see how our team can adapt against a very good
team from two levels higher,” said manager Tony Michael. “I think that if all our players play and
put in 100%, then they can show their talent that I see every week and we can then give Swindon
Town a good game. We have had a fantastic Women’s FA Cup run and we don’t want it to end yet!

England’s next generation will be in action again this month when the Under-23s welcome the
Netherlands in Walsall before a trip to Rome to face Italy.
Mo Marley has named a 24-player squad for the two fixtures, kicking things off in Walsall
where they will welcome the Netherlands (7.30pm KO GMT). The team will then travel to Stadio
Tre Fontane in Rome where they will face Italy on Monday 14 November (2.30pm KO CET).
Meanwhile, Emma Coates and Gemma Davies are taking a development squad covering
two age groups to Portugal next week with the players having met up on Sunday 6th November.
Coates will lead an WU19 selection participating in the Algarve Cup. They began by facing
Norway on Wednesday at Stadium Vila Real de Santo Antonio, the team will then return to the
same stadium a few days later for a fixture against the Netherlands on Monday 14 November
(14.00 KO CET). Davies’ WU18 side will also featured at the Stadium Vila Real de Santo Antonio
when Portugal hosted them following the U19 match on Wednesday.
Head of Women’s Technical, Kay Cossington said “It is great at every level we are getting
the opportunity to face strong opposition. We want our players to test themselves when they
come away with the national team, whatever the age group.
“As was set out from the reintroduction of the Under-23 squad last year you can see a real
pathway for younger players to showcase their talent and stake a claim for the senior squad. We
are seeing more and more young players getting opportunities to progress and experiences like
this are only going to continue that positive trend.”
