Supermarine. It’s been nine games since ‘Marine won in the league and they were undone
by a neat, curling effort by Kingsley Eshun just before the hour-mark.
Yate Town, who play Dover Athletic in their replayed FA Cup tie next Tuesday, warmed
up with a 3-1 home win over Walton Casuals, for whom it was a first defeat in five. Two
goals in three minutes midway through the first half from Dave Sims-Burgess and then Olly
Mehew put the Bluebells in control. Zidan Akers pulled one back for the Stags a couple of
minutes before the break. But a third with four minutes remaining from James Harding killed
off Casuals’ challenge.
Weston-super-Mare returned to winning ways with a 3-1 success at the Optima Stadium
against Chesham United. All the goals came in the first half, with Brad Clayton giving the
Generals a 10th-minute lead which Lloyd Humphries cancelled out eight minutes later. Prince
Henry put the Seagulls ahead in the 35th minute, and less than 2 minutes later, Humphries
bagged his second to make it 3-1.
With leaders AFC Totton having a Saturday off, Cirencester Town moved to within two
points of top spot after becoming the latest side to inflict a heavy defeat on bottom-markers
Barnstaple Town. Harry Williams put Ciren in front with less than three minutes gone on
the clock. Jake Lee added a second after 21 minutes, but Barum kept going and pulled
themselves back into the game with a goal from Jacob Evans after 35 minutes. Cirencester
eventually regained the initiative with a third from Josh Nelmes after 67 minutes and then
Williams notched his second on 74 minutes and Josh Parsons made it a nap hand two
minutes from time.
Frome Town moved into third spot after they won 3-2 at Cinderford Town, replacing
Sholing, who lost 2-0 at home to Paulton Rovers, Bristol Manor Farm, beaten by the
same scoreline at The Creek by struggling Bideford AFC and Highworth Town, who went
down 1-0 at Plain Ham against Larkhall Athletic.
Frome edged out managerless Cinderford Town at the Causeway, coming back from
finding themselves 2-0 down at half-time to Camden Duncan after 18 minutes and Jack
Freeman on 29 minutes. After no doubt a bit of a rocket at the break, Kane Simpson went
on to complete a hat-trick to turn the game in Frome’s favour in the 57th, 65th and 71st
minutes.
Will Harvey gave Paulton a 22nd minute lead at The Mackoy Stadium and the Boatmen
conceded a second immediately after half-time through Ed Butcher. Rubin Wilson put Biddy
in front at Bristol with seven minutes of the first half remaining. Matt Buchan’s second with
20 minutes to go proved enough to lift them four points clear of second-from-bottom
Mangotsfield United.
And Aysa Corrick`s 21st-minute effort eventually proved enough for Larkhall against
Highworth. The Larks are now seventh and are level on points with Paulton and also
Melksham Town, who won 2-0 at Cossham Street against Mangotsfield with goals from
Ryan Morgan after 36 minutes and Albie Hopkins four minutes after half-time.
Evesham United’s Neil Hunt managed the team for the final time and was waived off with
a 3-1 home win against Plymouth Parkway to pull up to 15th in the table. Hunt, who
resigned in the week but stayed on for this game, saw Jordan Copp put the visitors in front
after 11 minutes only for Callum Ebanks to level 6 minutes later. New boy Brandon Smalley
then gave the Robins a 38th-minute lead and the win was confirmed with a second from
Ebanks seven minutes into the second half.
Slimbridge pulled themselves up to 13th in the table after a 3-0 home win over
Lymington Town. After a goalless first half, Michael Ford put the Swans ahead after 52
minutes and then Marley Thomas made the points safe with a second in the 85th minute,
with Johan Flo making it 3-0 in stoppage time.
Winchester City and Willand Rovers shared a 1-1 draw at the Charters Estate
Community Stadium. Both goals came within a minute of each other with Louis Jagger Cane
giving Rovers a 37th-minute lead only for Simba Mlambo to go straight up the other end to
equalise for the Citizens.
