Good evening and a very warm welcome to everyone for
this Toolstation Western League game at home to our
neighbours Cadbury Heath. Our committee would also
like to welcome today’s match officials, referee Michael
Pope and his 2 assistants, Alex Setchell & Andy Leeds.
We head into today’s encounter looking for revenge after
succumbing to a disappointing 5-0 defeat at Springfields
on the opening day of the season. Suffice to say that a
lot has changed since that day, with our talented band of
youngsters now adapting well to life in men’s football.
Everyone knows that it will be difficult to achieve
consistency at this level in the short term, but as I have
said before, the future for our fantastic club is very exciting!
One piece of good news this week was that after our many, many away draws to
far flung corners of the globe in last season’s cup competitions, we have been
drawn at home to Hellenic Premier Division side Corsham Town (our old rivals from
our Western League Division One days) in the First Round Proper of the FA Vase –
put the date of Saturday 22 October in your diaries for what is sure to be a mouth-
nd
watering tie!
We are also pleased to announce that we are offering sponsorship of our First Team
players to all our fans at a bargain price of just £35, for which your name will
feature on our website, in match programmes and on social media. Anyone
interested should contact me in person or by email to jules1233@live.com . This is
a valuable source of income for our club, which will be used to help purchase some
training kit for the First Team squad.
After a few weeks without any long trips, we are all off to Cornwall again this
Saturday for what I believe is our first ever visit to Torpoint Athletic.
For those of you unable to make that trip, we look forward to seeing you back here
at Crown Fields on Saturday 15 October at 3:00pm for the visit of Barnstaple
th
Town.
Thank you as always for your loyal support and for your continued encouragement
of our players, which everyone at the club really appreciates.
Jules French (Club Secretary)
