Portchy do it again
AFC Portchester 3 Eastleigh Res 0
AFC Portchester added the Hampshire FA Trophy
to last month's HCWFL Cup success with a 3-0
win over Eastleigh in the Community Reserves at
a sunny Winklebury Football Complex.
As befits a match up between the top two
teams in County League Division Two it was a well
contested final where the winners converted their
chances whilst Eastleigh could not.
Portchester started with real purpose
testing Eastleigh keeper Hollie Keefe in the first
minute and opening the scoring soon after. A long
cross was helped back into the path of Eilidh
Currie who fired in a powerful effort from ten
yards. TJ Hewitt under pressure from Poppy Chandler

but they showed their threat around the twenty five
minute mark as Larnie Bisson saw her effort saved by Roxy Roberts, then Danielle
O'Leary was denied an equaliser by the keeper's speed off her line and anticipation.
Portchester regained some measure of control for the rest of the half and created
some decent half chances with good build up play but Keefe's handling was very sound
and the sides went to the break separated by Currie's early strike.
Charmaine True had come on midway through the first half for Portchy and it was
her composed finish on 50 minutes which doubled the lead when played clear of the
Eastleigh back line. Bisson nearly halved the lead soon after but Roberts forced her wide
before scrambling the follow up shot away for a corner.
True added a third with a delightful effort on 74 minutes. Advancing into the area
she cut inside a defender before curling a right foot effort beyond Keefe.
Eastleigh kept attacking but the Portchester defence with player of the match Sam
Jennings in command always seemed to have the solution . Indeed it was the impressive
Keefe who was the busier keeper towards the end of the contest with several good saves
to keep the score down.
A very good team effort allowed Portchester skipper Lynsey Crewe to lift the club's
second silverware in a fortnight whilst the runners up can secure the Hampshire County
League Division Two title with a win next week.
