Manager’s Viewpoint

The past few weeks have seen us continue our unbeaten start to the season.

September 2nd saw us progress into the 2nd round of the SFA cup with a 2-1 win
       over Nailsea & Tickenham Res’s.
It was a very comfortable performance , up until the last 10 minutes when we
conceded a late goal ! However we saw it out and we were worthy winners.
September 9th away at Chard was a very frustrating day. We drew 2-2. Created
chances throughout the fixture , forced some great saves from the Chard keeper
and we hit the woodwork on numerous occasions.
However , we trailed one nil after 15 minutes totally against the run of play !
Despite a funny five minutes following that goal we got back on top for pretty much
       the remainder of the fixture.
Dylan grabbed a deserved equaliser in the first half . And Hickery gave us a second
half lead finishing off a good passing move. The equaliser for Chard was a soft one.
       A needless penalty conceded.

But the moment that sticks in my throat was the late disallowed goal. Their club
linesman played a blinder. Chard defending a corner. Clearing the ball away & Brad
Caton striking the ball back into the box. Whittle flicking his effort beyond the
keeper. A player on the post , and two players goal side of Dylan trying to mark him
       !!!
The flag went up. And unfortunately the decision stood.

It was a tough one to take. But fair play to the two Chard supporters who
apologised to us , and expressed their embarrassment.
It don’t obviously count for to much. But at least we know what we were done out
       of.
To try and put a positive spin on things. Chard is a tough place to go to. And
hopefully we look back at it as a good point gained.
Onto today We welcome Wells City Res’s to BBS Park for County League Cup first
       round.
Wells had a great season last season and as always were expecting a very tough
       fixture.
All the best to all involved in todays fixture.
       Dickie.
