Bris v Warminster Town
The Brislington back four were uncontested in possession for the most part, and were able
to move and switch the ball at will, the home side content to defend deep. As the game
progressed the Foxes dominated the ball, and for long spells, more than a few moves
ending up with a save needed by the home goalie.
Warminster's cau ous defensive strategy was nearly undone by Jack Fillingham, who
might have done be er when Griffiths and McClennan combined to play him in. Two
minutes later Dodimead's rasping le foot strike flashed just wide: the warning signs were
there!. It was Dodimead who had the next chance a er Griffiths sent the front man clear,
but the keeper was quickly off his line to smother the shot.
Finally, Griffiths got the scoreboard started in the 24th minute a er his neat turn in the
centre circle found Dodimead, whose check back to Griffiths saw the striker finish well with
his right foot low to the keeper's le from just outside the box. 24'
Only a minute later the visitors were denied by some outstanding shot-stopping, the home
keeper denying first Fillingham then Dodimead from close range. He was called into ac on
again when Griffiths' front post header from a corner was ini ally fumbled, the keeper
then pouncing on the loose ball amongst a melee of bodies.
Dorrington was once again called into ac on a er Pollard again was sent off down the
right, this me going it alone. However, Dorrington was in no mood to concede and
managed to stop the shot with his body and was quick to follow up and secure the ball,
receiving a kick on the wrist for his efforts.
Brislington's second, when it came, was a thing of beauty. Williams, Griffiths and Ricke s
conspired to move the ball to Dodimead, who s ll with much to do ran across the face of
the 18-yard-box, finally unleashing a 'banger' into the top right corner of the home goal
net, giving the keeper no chance.
