Introducing Weston-super-Mare FC
Freddie Butchers - Freddie is a talented goalkeeper who has featured for the under-18s this season.
As well as travelling and training with the first team, he has gained senior experience locally with the
likes of Hu on and Congresbury across the past couple of seasons.
Max Harris - Max started out with Hereford FC before ge ng a move to Oxford United as a teenager.
Various loan moves over a few years saw Max snapped up by Cheltenham Town in 2020, where he
has been for the past three years. The keeper is in his third loan spell with Weston from Cheltenham.
Bailey Kempster - With Weston since the age of 16, Bailey made his debut as a teenager in 2019-
2020 before joining Willand Rovers on loan the following season. Then spending me on loan with
Willand in 2021-2022 and 2022-2023, he looks to develop his game this coming season.
Raphael Araoye - Raphael came up through the Bristol City youth ranks and signed his first
professional contract at 17. A er spending me with their under-21s side as well as a couple of
opportuni es in and around the first team, he joined the Seagulls on loan in January 2024.
Sam Avery - Avery spent the early part of his career with Chipping Norton FC, Carterton Town and
Shortwood United as well as two spells with Bishops Cleeve. Joining hometown club Gloucester City
in 2014 where he went on to become captain, ‘Avo’ has been with the Seagulls since January 2020.
Lloyd Humphries - The Welshman is a product of the Cardiff City Academy, spending most of the
2016-2017 season on loan at The Op ma. He returned again on loan from the Bluebirds in 2019-
2020 before signing permanently the following summer and has been a regular with Weston ever
since.
Callum Wood - The young defender, on loan from Bristol City, featured for the likes of Hereford FC
and Cinderford Town while s ll a teenager before ge ng a move to Bristol City. He has spent me
out on loan with Bath City and Yate Town before signing for the Seagulls on loan in February 2024.
Jason Pope - The flying full-back progressed through the Exeter City Academy and spent 2015-2016
on loan with Weston before joining permanently in 2016. He moved on to Hereford in 2019 and then
to Bath City a year later before coming back to The Op ma in 2021.
Keiran Thomas - A scholar with Cheltenham Town, ‘KT’ spent me on loan with Cinderford Town
before making the move permanent. He captained the Forest of Dean side to the Southern League
Division One South tle in 2016 before two-year spells with Gloucester City and Hereford FC. He
moved to Weston in 2020.
Dayle Grubb - The Seagulls skipper arrived at the club as a 16-year-old and made his debut in the
2008-2009 season. He spent many years smashing in the goals before a move to Forest Green Rovers
in 2018. A short loan spell followed with Eastleigh before returning to Weston in 2020, captaining the
side to the league tle last season.
James Dodd - The central midfielder began his career in the Exeter City ranks, spending me on loan
with Taunton Town before two ACL injuries. He spent the 2021-2022 season on loan with the club
before returning permanently last summer and being an ever-present in midfield.
Jacob Jagger Cane - ‘Caney’ came through the Exeter City ranks and spent me on loan with Poole
Town & Weymouth before joining Weston in 2014 permanently. He spent five years with the club,
including 18 months as captain before moving to Hereford FC in 2019. A year with the Bulls saw Jacob
return to the club in 2020.
Omar Taylor-Clarke: Omar started out with Cardiff City before joining Bristol City at under-13 level.
Progressing through the ranks, he has spent me out on loan with Yate Town and made nine
appearances for the Robins first-team in 22/23. Joined the Seagulls on loan in March 2024.
Jordan Bas n - Jordan began his career in the Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle ranks before moving
to Tiverton Town’s Reserves. A two-year spell with Elmore AFC, including ne ng over 70 goals, saw
him return to Tiverton in 2019 before arriving at The Seagulls in 2021.
Opi Edwards - Opi began his career with Bristol City, enjoying loan spells with Bath City & Torquay
United which included winning the Na onal League South tle in 2019. He joined Forest Green
Rovers in 2021 and Rochester New York in 2022, before returning to Bath permanently in 2023.
Signed for the Seagulls in July 2023.
Rex Mannings - Previously in the Oxford United youth academy, Rex played Southern League football
with Bristol Manor Farm and Frome Town before being snapped up by Bath City. A er a period on
loan with Yate Town, he joined the Seagulls ahead of the 23-24 season.
