Welcome to the Lancer Scott Stadum

Good afternoon and welcome to the Lancer
Scott stadium, particularly to the officials,
players and supporters of Shepton Mallet fc,
who have made the short journey across
        Somerset.
Shepton have been in the local Football news
this week as long serving manager, Craig
Loxton announced he was leaving the club, to
take up the Managerial vacancy at Southern
league Paulton Rovers taking his assistant
John Durbin with him. John Burr leads a
caretaker management team in the dugout
        today.
We have met Mallet already, in the 1st week
of the season, we lost 2-0 but honestly, it
could have been more. Which was part of an 8 game unbeaten league
run. Who remembers the home game here last season? August bank
holiday monday, following a very difficult start to our season, fielding a
much depleted team we ground out our 1st point of that season. 0-0. A
sign of how far we have come, 7 of that team are in today’s reserve
team, 3 have left and playing a lower level. Today, its 7th entertaining
4th, if our re-vitalised squad play to their potential then I think we are
in for a very good game and hopefully 3 points.
Bad news a couple of weeks ago, long serving winger Cordell Young
broke his leg in 2 places playing for the Reserves here at the Lancer
Scott, V Nailsea & Tickenham. It was a complete accident. SO, a date
for your diaries, Wednesday 23rd November. The re-arranged fixture v
Nailsea & Tickenham, kick off 7.30 under lights. We WILL BE CHARGING
admission, ALL money raised including player’s subs & raffle will go to
Cordell to help him while he is off work.
        DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
This Wednesday (16th) we host Backwell Athletic U18s V Winscombe
U18s, 7-30 pm under lights, free entry.
We then hit the road for trips to Falmouth and then Mousehole. We are
running coaches to both, please contact me if you wish to join us. More
        details on Beech’s page.
Thank you for your support today, enjoy the game and please respect
        the officials.

        Mike, Chairman
