KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 3

       Manager’s Notes

Another tough game today as we welcome Plymouth Argyle
today to the AJN Stadium and trust their journey from Devon has
       been a safe one.
Our game on Tuesday against Cardiff, was spoilt by the referee,
who ignored a blatant foul on Jade Munro, while players stopped
for the injury allowing the opponents to score. The first goal for
Cardiff was very scrappy and their goalkeeper made three
excellent saves that you would expect from the Wales No. 1
goalkeeper. Overall, we defended pretty well, but Kerry Bartlett
was too isolated up front as all our other attacking players were
a little too deep. We hope to correct that today. We did, however
create three or four chances, but were unable to convert them.

I am hopeful that Laura Williams will be back in a Keynsham shirt
today as her injury seems to have passed. Laura is a player who
can lift our game and is both a goal maker and a goalscorer. On
the other hand, Megan Wood picked up a nasty sprain on Tuesday and will miss the next two
games as she rests the injury.

The bar in the clubhouse is open today for those that want liquid refreshments. You would
not believe it, but there is a shortage of beer over the bank holiday. We have plenty of Cider
and Ale, but are likely to be short of lagers today, unless we get a last minute delivery. Please
bear with us over these supply difficulties.

Next Sunday, we travel to Portsmouth and the Academicals will be at home to Chichester &
Selsey Development with a 2pm kick off. Our Reserve team also commence their fixtures
next Sunday with an away trip to Swindon Town Development in the South West Regional
Division One (East). Our FAWNL squads are small and so we must hope that we do not pick
up any injuries over the next few games.

It is now apparent that referee and assistant referee costs have escalated by around 20%
this year. Their travel costs are up by 25%. It now costs between £160 and £200 just for the
officials at a home game. Similarly, fines for yellow cards have also risen by 20%. I am not
sure what has happened to sending off fines, but I would not be surprised if they have not
moved up by a similar amount. This is not helpful when most clubs are trying to recover from
       the ravages of covid-19.

These insensitivities are typified by appointments staff
sending a local referee from Keynsham all the way to
Cheltenham on Thursday, while we picked up a maximum
       travel expense the other way.
Anyway, lets hope that we see an entertaining game today
and three points along the way.
