Keep it in the Family!
In common with most non-professional football clubs, there is a
small band of volunteers who help keep Keynsham Town’s senior
football teams running off the pitch.
The preparation which goes into First Team games especially is
often hidden to the naked eye, and the Ks are lucky to have one
family of 3 who devote a lot of time into running our great
community club! Jules and Terrie French (our husband and wife
combo) and Terrie’s mum Anne fulfil several key roles for the club
from their Keynsham home!
Jules has been involved with the Ks for 13 years now, of which the
last 12 he has been our Club Secretary. The role of secretary in any
sports organisation is critical to the running of the club. Apart from
the day-to-day administrative duties, such as registering players,
sending invitations to visiting clubs/match officials and dealing with
FA/League communications for both our senior teams, Jules is also
an important member of our “match day crew” for our home
games. He can usually be found manning the gate until a few
minutes after the game has started, when he goes round the
ground selling raffle tickets!
Terrie juggles her full-time office job with several key roles at the
club. She has been involved with the club for over 10 years and
took over the Treasurer’s role 5 years ago. A bigger and more
impressive task though has been helping to turn our tea hut from
an out-of-use dumping room to the excellent match day hub you
see today! Terrie also buys and prepares post-match food for the
players and visiting officials.
Back at HQ, Anne also fulfils a crucial task at any club, in that she
washes and prepares the kit for First Team games.
This is just a snapshot of some of the key roles at any club, but it’s
nice to keep it “in the family”!!!
