One match was played in the SBS Scottish Women’s Premier League on the weekend
before Christmas, with Glasgow Women playing host to St Johnstone in SWPL 2.
A win would have taken St Johnstone to within a single point of second placed
Dundee Utd, but two goals in a five minute spell during the second half saw Glasgow
Women notch up a 2-0 victory, which lifts them into a mid-table position.
After a goalless first half, the deadlock was broken just before the hour mark
when Kaitlyn Canavan gave Glasgow Women the lead from the penalty spot. Five
minutes later, Abbi McDonald sealed her side’s fourth league win of the season with the
second goal.
With all teams in SWPL 2 now having played ten games, the result moves
Glasgow Women to just one point behind opponents St Johnstone.
