Match Report

two footed challenge on Me ers, causing the player to go sprawling and a melee to ensue.
The ref had very li le hesita on in producing a red card pu ng the Swags down to ten
men! It also resulted in a yellow card for Me ers who understandably reacted badly to the
       challenge.
Strangely this caused Nailsea to produce their best spell in the game and it looked un l half
me like the two sides were s ll equal in number. Dorrington was called into ac on for the
first me, and there was a string of in swinging corners which caused some defensive
concern and forced the away side to work hard defensively, but there weren’t any clear cut
chances to trouble either Goalkeeper, the half ending 0-2 to Brislington, and crucially with
       an extra man advantage.
The second half couldn’t have started any be er for the league leaders as 2 minutes in
they had made it 3. Great work between Tobin and McLennan down the le created a
cross which was a acked well by Scadding, who met the Swags goalkeeper mid-air, as the
ball dropped Scaddings 2nd a empt to turn the ball in was thwarted but the ball was
rammed home by the effervescent Oaklan Buck who fully deserved something for his
       efforts.

It would be fair to say at this point the game was insurmountable for the former league
leaders, the Swags having held one of the top two spots for pre y much the en re season
un l this point, and the remainder of the game really just resembled a training exercise
where one team is given the ball and asked to a ack the opposing goal. I can’t remember
an effort on target, at Dorrington’s goal for the second 45, even a late free kick from a good
posi on was blasted high and wide by Nailsea.
The extra man and 3 goal advantage allowed the Foxes to control the game domina ng
possession and remaining pa ent by playing the ball across the back line, and choosing
when and where to a ack. The home side were s ll working hard to close down and track
runners but the quality of the Foxes play was crea ng chances from all angles.
On 51 minutes McLennan found Me ers centrally, and his neat pass inside the fullback
found Buck whose pull back was finished by Jones. Unfortunately the goal was ruled out
for an offside, (although having reviewed the video that decision looked excep onally
harsh) but it typified the way that the foxes were able to exploit the space. Five minutes
later though, there was no denying Jones who got Brislington’s 4th. Good work down the
le saw McLennan cross to the far post where Buck headed goalwards. The goalkeeper
saving ins nc vely was unable to hold the ball and as it dropped down Buck nicked it
sideways for the poaching Jones to side foot home, making it 7 goals in two games for the
striker and 0-4 to the Visitors.

The fourth goal was followed by Me ers being replaced by Joel smith, then soon a er
Griffiths and Doddimead replaced Jones and Buck, really highligh ng Brislington’s strength
in depth. Asa White was removed as a precau on, swapping with Jack Allward, and Josh
       Egan stepped in for Scadding.
Brislington controlled the game un l the final whistle, a statement of intent well and truly
       made!!
The win makes it 19 wins in a row, 66 league goals scored, and 11 league goals conceded
since the last defeat on the 29th October, totalling 109 for 29 against for the season!!
With some difficult games s ll to come, for the Foxes to navigate
