KEYNSHAM TOWN LADIES 9

This was an expected win game, and boy did we need to get back to winning ways!

The previous two fixtures had seen comfortable wins, but all teams in this inaugural U18s
league have improved as the season progressed.
We pretty much dominated the first half scoring after two minutes, and despite a Portished
breakaway goal to go 1-1, we went in at half time 3-1 up, and looked comfortable.

We again started the second half confident and looking good, but understandably maybe a
little less focused than usual and feeling that the game was ours, and relaxed a little.

We eventually ran out 5-3 winners without really ever feeling under threat, and more than
capable of making sure we secured the win.

Our next game is this Sunday 19th, away to leaders Melksham again.
This is our last fixture of the season against Melksham, and it is our intention to do
everything we can to be the 1st team to beat them this season , and prove just how good
       this Keynsham U18s is.

The majority of the team would have been u16s eligible this season, and forfeited a
practically nailed on 16s title to compete in this more challenging 18s league.

They have been amazing and their accelerated development as players has been a privilege
       to be part of.
Four of the 16 year olds travelled to Plymouth with the reserves last Sunday for their Ladies
debuts. According to Sven, the manager, they were outstanding and did not look out of place
at all. One of them, Flo, got players player of the game, and all four got joint managers
player of the game . High praise indeed.

This season was supposed to be about building the squad for a realistic challenge next
season and preparing the girls for ladies football.

So far they’ve exceeded my expectations in the league, the eligible U16s have made the
Somerset County U16s cup final, four have now played their ladies debuts and I have no
doubt more will follow and also do well. But they have deserved it all through a dedicated
approach to pre season, hard work at training, and the bond they share as a team of really
       great friends.

It has been a fantastic season so far, full of highs and lows, but the most exciting thing for
me has been watching these young ladies flourish as players, and being able to be part of
       that journey with them.
