The Regional Leagues...
East Midlands League
Derby County Academy produced a stunning second half comeback to win 4-3 against
Lincoln Utd in the League Cup Final and lift a second trophy this season, having already
won the Division One South title. The Premier Division side had led 2-1 at half time thanks
to Abigail Murrell and Lucy Farrow and Lauren Churcher increased their advantage three
minutes after the restart but the Ewe Rams, who had earlier scored through Iesha Rollins,
staged a fightback and goals from Rosie Hunt and Marli Rhodes-Andrews levelled the
scores. Olivia Edwards then headed Derby in front for the first time with eleven minutes
remaining and they held out for the remainder of the game to put the seal on what has been
a tremendous season for them.
Earlier in the day, Mansfield Town had got the better of Rotherham Utd in an
all-Premier Division League Plate Final, goals from Nikki Wigman, Ashleigh Evans and
Georgina Gladwin giving them a 3-1 victory.
Eastern Region League
AFC Sudbury completed a marvellous season for themselves as they came from behind to
beat Hutton 2-1 in the League Plate Final at Haverhill.
The Yellows went into the game on the back of hearing that they had been confirmed
as Division One South Champions and after Lauren Knight had given Hutton a first half
lead, Sudbury hit back after the break and goals from Jess Allen and Holly Kennard gave
them victory.
London & South East League
Dorking Wanderers made sure of finishing as runners-up in Division One North with an
11-0 victory over Clapham Utd. Charlotte Keenan was on target five times and Charlotte
Blunt weighed in with a hat-trick, whilst further goals from Xayla-Rae Alberts, Sarah
Chapman and Hannah Thomas put the seal on a result which means that Dorking will finish
above Dulwich Hamlet Res. Hannah Summers meanwhile scored for Sport London e
Benfica as they battled out a 1-1 draw with Hackney, who netted through Kea Felix.
North East League
York City notched up another win on Sunday, the newly crowned Champions running out
7-3 winners away to Wakefield Trinity. Holly Findlay led the scoring for York with a
hat-trick, Shannon Durkin weighed in with a brace and there was one apiece from Rebecca
Fevers and Sophie Tinson, whilst Wakefield replied through a Neve Renwick brace and
Megan Brackenbury. South Shields meanwhile completed their campaign with a sixth
win in seven matches, against the last team to beat them, Wallsend Boys Club. Eve
Gatens, Becki McMahon, Caitlin Bates and Gabby Pedersen all scored to give Shields a 4-0
victory which leaves them in fourth place in the table.
Chester-le-Street Utd have taken the runners-up spot in the Northern Division
after they finished their fixtures with a 6-0 victory over Bishop Auckland. Laura Walker,
Emma Hewett, Holly Doogan, Francesca Takher, Rebecca Hansen and Ellie Medd all scored
a goal apiece for United, who were confirmed to be in second place on Wednesday night
when Boro Rangers were beaten 7-2 by Washington Association. Jessica Cook bagged
a hat-trick for Washington along with Hannah Dixon (2), Abigail Herron and Ellie Laidler,
Jade Danks and Jessica Robinson replying.
West Midlands League
Stourbridge have had a magnificent season which has seen them lift the Premier Division
title and on Sunday, they completed the league and cup double by beating Kidderminster
Harriers 5-0 in the Premier Division Cup Final at Lichfield. Kidderminster had enjoyed a
fine run in the competition but their second cup final of the campaign proved to be a bridge
too far as Esme Moran netted twice for the Glassgirls and she was joined on the scoresheet
by Ellie McGovern, Hannah Fishwick and Ruby Meeson.
