Rural Small Schools Grant
The Rural Small Schools Grant recognizes that rural schools face unique challenges in the operation of schools and the delivery of educational services under any funding model based on student enrollment.
54
Many small rural schools are unable to realize economies of scale on staffing and other expenses, and are disproportionately affected by fluctuations in student enrollment.
This grant is allocated based on various enrollment thresholds for schools between 35 and 155 students, with a separate approach for colony schools.
Schools with more than 155 students are not eligible for Rural Small Schools funding. Schools with fewer than 35 students will receive a small base amount plus base instruction funding based on WMA enrollment.
